In the past 3 months, I have been to Maui and Orange County twice for business trips. Within each of them, I either over-packed or didn’t have what I needed. I quickly realized that there was a hidden art to these whirlwind business trips and I needed to figure out the source of such knowledge. And after much trial & error, and pulling my hair out a few times in my hotel room, I think I have found some answers.
So in preparation for WPPI I have decided to put together multi use outfits so I can pack less and still have awesome outfits….
This first inspiration came from this amazing little black dress I bought in Maui last month. I used it as a swim suit cover up, a cocktail dress with my pink heels, and then brought it home to use with leggings and a cardigan. I LOVE, LOVE this dress and just adore how I can switch it up to do so many things. So if you see me sporting the same dress over and over at WPPI, don’t hate, I’m just boycotting the $50 checked baggage fee. ( Don’t fool yourself, it is $50…they charge $25 both ways people)

Want to tone it down a bit? Change out your black dress for your favorite pair of skinny jeans. My favorite thing about the skinnies is you can wear them with boots, flats, heels and flip flops. Versatility people. YAY!

Next up is Mix & Match. What I love about this is you can use a lot of these dresses with almost all of these shoes to create different outfits. Another must is bringing layers. Versatile cardigans can change any outfit and keep you warm in those chilly conference rooms. Dresses and cardigans roll up really small in a suitcase. So you can bring more of these if you bring less of the bulkier items ( jeans, sweatshirts & shoes)
The ultimate key…….drum roll please….
Bringing 3 or 4 pairs of shoes that go with lots of outfits is key. And boots, I think Boots are a must. Shoes take up the most amount of space so bringing only a few will help immensely. Then go through your wardrobe and find your favorite things that go with multiple shoes. Notice how I also moved around belts, cardigans, earrings etc to punch up the fab without over-packing.
